10 Reasons To Hire a Wedding Videographer

In 2013 my wife and I had already been married a couple years and just became brand new parents. As a live production artist trained in audio engineering, I valued everything in the audio visual world and had a deep desire to do something meaningful. I filmed my first wedding in the winter of that year and my wife joined me not too long after.

My favorite thing about filming weddings is getting to know my couples personally and immersing myself into their celebration. So much goes into a wedding and my job as a film-maker is to tell a story, your story, how I believe you would want it showcased. I enjoy capturing every moment from tear-filled champagne toasts, to dress details, boat cruise sunsets and the guest experience. It is a time of your life you will want frozen in time and have the ability to experience over and over again. Here are the top ten reasons I believe wedding videography is essential to your big day.

  1. Not getting a videographer is the number one regret of married couples. We’ve all heard this before from married couples, as well as multiple blogs and planning sites, yet it keeps happening. The day goes by so fast and moments are forgotten, the wedding film remains. You spend loads of money on the venue, decor, and the overall experience. You’re paying for an incredible movie set, why not make a movie?
  2. Who doesn’t want to be a movie star? At some point in our lives we’ve considered the glamorous life of the silver screen stars. Your wedding film is your very own Rom Com featuring your love story and surrounded by everyone you love. Plus, you’ll be dressed to the nines and feeling fabulous!
  3. You are starting a new family, you’ll want to start new family traditions. Til death do us part is a long time. Family traditions keep us together and remind us of what matters. My wife and I love getting fancy desserts, pouring some delicious Veuve Clicquot and reliving the best decision we ever made through our own wedding film. What a fabulous way to be reminded every year why we chose each other, and how loved we are by those around us.
  4. Wedding films are customized to your individuality. We LOVE originality! We LOVE culture and tradition! We LOVE traveling! We will follow you into your world and capture the best of it. Every wedding is so unique and inspiring, our attention is always in the details.
  5. Video is not Photography and should not be compared. You do not and should not have to choose between photo and video. They are not the same. Photography is incredible. Videography is heart-evoking. We tell couples that regardless, they should have it documented. It’s 2020, video is everywhere!
  6. Relive the forgotten or unseen moments. Your wedding day is a blur. There is a lot of pressure that things go as planned and a lot of things are missed. A wedding film is the way to preserve moments in real time. You will forget who you saw there, your film will not. You will forget what people said, your film will not. Which brings me to my next point.
  7. Document the beautiful words that are spoken. I cannot tell you the amount of times Fathers, Mothers, family and friends have blown away the couple with the words they have to say on the wedding day. This to us makes it essential to have it captured. You will want to listen back as time moves on. My favorite part is using these amazing words as a narrative to showcase who you are and bring the moments to life in your film.
  8. Comfort through the eventual loss of loved ones. The inevitable loss of our family and friends is a hard pill to swallow, your film will help on your grief journey. We have been able to release many hours of footage to couples who have lost those closest to them. They find peace and comfort in seeing them interact and having a good time on the wedding day.
  9. Create a time capsule for the next generation. We believe this to be one of the most important reasons to get a wedding film. We love the old photographs of our parents wedding day but would have loved it even more to be able to see them moving, and laughing, hearing the speeches from their closest friends, and saying their vows to each other. How fun to see them in their youth for years down the line. We will be thrilled to show our grandchildren our wedding film, so that they can relive the moments with us!

10. Essential for this time of COVID and Social Distancing measures. This has been a really tough challenge this year but it has also made video even more essential. With guest lists cut down and the possibility of some of your loved ones not being able to attend your wedding, getting your day on film is more important than ever. This is why we’ve rolled out options for live streaming your ceremony and even offering expedited delivery for some of those moments you wish that your loved one’s could’ve experienced in person.

Wedding planning is not an easy task, and I know it feels there’s a lot at stake. I hope this helps couples make an informed decision on how they go about getting their memories captured and preserved. Happy planning!
